What does Poe Construction build?
We are involved in a variety of commercial construction projects including office, industrial, retail, automotive, medical, financial, and renovations. The projects have exposed us to a wide range of construction materials including structural concrete, pre-engineered metal, masonry, and steel or wood frame.

Do you do public works projects?
Poe Construction operates exclusively in the ‘private sector’ because our success has come from maintaining ongoing relationships and offering the level of quality and service which builds that reputation.

Who owns Poe Construction?

Originally incorporated as East Valley Construction in 1964, Fred Poe entered the firm in 1972. By 1976, Fred finished acquisition and renamed the firm Poe Construction, Inc.

The current ownership team includes Charles Poe, Wayne Williams, Alan Peterson, and Kyle Fry following Fred’s retirement.

In what geographic areas will Poe work?

Poe Construction is licensed in the states of Washington, Oregon, and Alaska.

Does Poe Construction do Design Build projects?
Poe Construction strongly advocates the Design Build approach to project design and construction. We have found that careful planning and brainstorming in early project stages will pay big dividends in developing a practical and cost-effective approach to the construction of a new building.

Does Poe have a safety program, does it include a drug testing policy, what is your L&I experience factor?

Poe Construction has a very active safety program overseen by our Safety Committee. Our program includes employee/subcontractor safety orientations, weekly jobsite safety meetings and walk-thru’s, and annual safety training sessions. We also contract with an independent safety inspector for jobsite audits on a monthly basis.

Another important part of Poe’s safety program is our drug testing policy. We have implemented a drug-free workplace program that includes a 5-panel drug test for pre-employment/re-hire, post accident, or reasonable suspicion.

Our current Labor & Industries Experience Factor is .8465 compared to the industry average of 1.000.

Do we have a reliable core of subcontractors?

Poe Construction goes to great lengths to ensure the quality of our subcontractor/supplier team members. Bids are requested from a list of pre-qualified firms developed in-house over the past 20+ years. We continually evaluate our subcontractors/suppliers for their ability to produce quality work, financial strength, and their follow-through on post construction issues.

What part/how much of the construction work does Poe self perform?

Poe Construction employees perform all site and building control functions, supervision, jobsite scheduling and coordination, layout work for Poe work and sub-trades, all concrete formwork, rough and finish carpentry, specialties installations, cleanup, and punch-list work.

How do I get on your bidder’s list?
To begin our screening process, subcontractors and suppliers should submit a detailed Subcontractor Qualification Form. We will review your qualification information; conduct client and supplier reference checks; review Department of Labor and Industries account status; and request Dun & Bradstreet reports, if necessary.
